James D Wilson is an artist and designer based in South East London, UK, working predominantly in paint and relief on layered cardboard and wood surfaces.
His work is preoccupied with the deconstruction of familiar forms into component parts and reassembling them in unexpected ways. The bold compositions that emerge are an act of finding new visual rhythms using pattern and fields of colour in reduced palettes. The materials used have a utilitarian quality to them which lends itself to the idea that the works are constructed; existing somewhere between the language of sculpture and painting.
