Phoebe Boddy is a London-based abstract expressionist artist with a Fine Art degree from Loughborough University. Her paintings explore the connection between the two creative fields of food and art.
“My main sources of inspiration come from food and flavours, but also feelings and little sayings that are associated with food. I love the idea that you can be transported to a particular place or memory through flavour, and I try to achieve that feeling through my paintings’.
She creates her artworks with a multitude of materials including acrylic, oil stick and charcoal, which creates both complex layers and elements of intense colour. Through her energetic brushstroke and deliberate mark making, Phoebe balances highly detailed areas of the composition with raw and exposed cotton canvas.
All of Phoebe’s works are laced with humour, often playing with words and objects, which is very much a part of the artists’ character.
She won the Figurative Art Prize 2021 from Mall Galleries (London) and her paintings have been exhibited in the UK, Finland and France, and stand in notable private collections internationally.
