Kanica is a fibre artist based in Seville, Spain, known for her vibrant, hand-embroidered textile works that blend traditional craftsmanship with bold modern design. Drawing inspiration from the Bauhaus movement, mid-century aesthetics, and the geometric clarity of Modern Art, Kanica’s work is characterised by striking compositions that balance harmony and dynamism through colour, form, and structure.
After earning a degree in History of Modern and Contemporary Art from The American University of Paris and Christie’s Education in London, Kanica worked in the art industry before fully embracing her artistic practice in 2017. Her work reflects a deep respect for artisanal techniques combined with a passion for contemporary visual language.
Influenced by the likes of Anni Albers, Sheila Hicks, and Olga de Amaral, her process is rooted in research, intuition, and experimentation—translating everyday moments, memories, and modernist ideals into tactile expressions through wool and canvas.
