Natacha is a Belgian abstract expressionist artist whose works are heavily influenced by movement and focuses predominantly on the physicality of painting.
Movement has always been very important to Bisarre, having trained and practised as a professional dancer for several companies, including the Royal Opera House.
Her compositions are a balance between freedoms and limitation and deeply rooted in her dance background, where the tension of discipline and freedom of movement was always present.
Using a combination of pools of colour and intricate markings, she depicts this paradox of a dancer’s reality.
Natacha’s processes are driven by impulse and can change from artwork to artwork but is consistently in response to her chosen tools and materials. Whatever the initial trigger or idea, her selection of tools is determined from a sensory perspective and she rarely knows in advance how the final piece will look.
Playing with fluid materials allows Natacha to have ‘conversations’ with her works, responding to them as much as to her own ideas. The final layers of her paintings include finer lines and markings which create the punctuation to her ethereal and striking works.
Natacha has recently exhibited at Brick Lane Gallery and regularly opens her doors for artists open studios.
